Direct vent fireplaces are perfect for home builers and homeowners alike. They do not require a chimney and can be vented directly through the wall or roof giving you endless options of where to put a fireplace.  The direct vent draws its combustion air from outside so it does not consume any warm air from in the house. Direct venting also eliminates drafts and heat loss associated with other fireplaces. The fire chamber is closed unlike a traditional fireplace so it is a closed system. 

   Direct vent fireplaces are very efficient for several reasons:

1- The exhaust pipe is inside of the intake pipe. The hot gasses exiting through the exhaust pipe warm up the air coming in through the intake pipe, icreasing efficiency.

2 - They provide the optimal amount of oxygen for combustion.

3 - Becuase it is a closed system, the heat is not lost up the chimney.

    Direct vent fireplaces are also safe and healthy because they exhaust all byproducts outside. An open fireplace lets some gasses escape into the home:

1 - Carbon monoxide is poisonous and deadly.

2 - Nitrogen dioxide is toxic and may cause respitory problems.

3 - Particulate matter consists of tiny solid particles which irritate the lungs.
